How I Got Into This
Polizzi Media is a family-run marketing studio led by me, Bianca Polizzi — marketing specialist and yoga retreat host — alongside my parents: my father, a published author, ghostwriter and veteran journalist, and my mother, a creative design and tech expert with a flair for websites and systems. We also work closely with a hand-picked international team, personally overseeing every project to ensure top-tier quality at cost-effective rates.
It’s been a long journey to get here — and every step has shaped where I am today. If you’re curious about the face behind the business, settle in and enjoy the story.
In 2016, while on my “year abroad” (the third year of my Bath University course - where you have to spend the year in the countries of the languages that you are studying), I somehow wrangled a job as the Personal Assistant to the Duchess of Palma.
I arrived to a palazzo in Palermo, Sicily, feeling totally out of my depth, but thankfully came equipped with an extreme, tireless work ethic. This matched the Duchess’, so we got on really well, regularly working 13 hour days together.
Nicoletta Polo runs 14 holiday apartments within her palazzo, and also “A Day Cooking with the Duchess”, renowned Sicilian cooking classes. She needed help with her marketing, so I started publishing on her social media account, writing blogs (I am a writer by nature) and newsletters, and improving her website. I was only meant to stay for 3 months, but ended up staying for the maximum 9 months possible. I had discovered my love of professional marketing. Although, much earlier, at the age of 15 I gained 24,000 followers on my Twitter teaching French, so I have always been knowledgeable of the online realm.
I continued running Nicoletta’s social media while I was in my final year of University. In 2018, I graduated, gained a grad job as in French & Italian Recruitment at Amazon, in Cork in the Republic of Ireland - but quickly became unhappy. I booked a one-way flight to Goa, India for the day after my 6 month contract ended to study yoga. For the following 3 months, I worked as a yoga instructor at a private summer school in Belgium that I used to teach English at, while I worked on filling a yoga retreat I had decided to launch in the palazzo in Palermo, Sicily, with the start day being exactly 3 months from my graduation day of my 200HR Yoga Teacher Training.
It was successful. Without any budget whatsoever - and no long standing clients to rely on, purely from my own extensive marketing skills and sheer willpower, I was now hosting my own retreats.
Later that year, in 2019, I started freelancing my marketing skills as a social media manager. This led to me helping other yoga instructors launch and fill their retreats, which in turn shifted to helping all kinds of businesses launch online, or grow and expand from wherever they already were.
In 2021, I began working as the CMO of a New York based coworking space, becoming the right-hand woman for the CEO, helping him launch a number of his other businesses - including what is now, a multi-million dollar healthcare company.
During this time, while living as a digital nomad, all around the world, I built the CEO his own in-house marketing team, hiring, training and managing 14 international, remote-working employees. Again, I found myself to be working 13 hour-long days.
I got burnt out, so I left that role to grow my own digital marketing business, that I had continued on the side over the years. Now, this is my full-time gig - and my absolute passion. I still occasionally host yoga retreats, having launched Sun Soul Escapes in 2024 - and teach yoga when I can, but my main focus is back here on Polizzi Media. If you’ve made it this far into my story, hopefully you’ll be part of the next chapter!
